IHCHR delegation visits BCF headquarter in Erbil

The commission demands the BCF to manage Ashti camp in Erbil

A delegation of the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR), headed by Aqeel Jasim Al-Musawi, the head of the commission, visited the headquarter of Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) in Erbil and met with Musa Ahmed, the president of the foundation on August 14, 2018.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the humanitarian situation of the displaced people in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Al Musawi highlighted the important role the BCF has played in providing humanitarian assistance to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) during the past four years.

Moreover, the IHCHR demanded the BCF to take over Ashti Camp management where the Iraqi Christian IDPs are living. The camp is located in Ankawa district in Erbil where the Christian displaced families have been settled since the ISIS attack on Nineveh Province in June 2014.

The sides also stressed the importance of further cooperation and coordination to improve the situation of the IDPs.
