Food and NFI were provided to 130 flood-affected households

On January 1, 2022, due to a rainstorm that caused a flood in several neighborhoods of Erbil, the emergency team of the BCF instantly took an initiative and started providing aid including hot meals to the vulnerable people of the Zeelan City, Pirash, Sebardan, Bakhtyari, Baharka, New Erbil, and Shawes Neighborhoods. The beneficiaries were including 1500 individuals. After the emergency aid, another stage of assistance took place by providing 100 liters of kerosene to the vulnerable families. As part of this initiative, on January 17, 2022, the BCF in cooperation with the Erbil Joint Crisis Coordination Center (EJCC) and the Galiawa Company distributed kerosene heater, blanket, mattress, food, stove, and carpet among 130 households affected by the flood.

It’s worth mentioning that in the natural flood of the last month, each family received 100 liters of kerosene, food, and NFI. Despite this, and in coordination with the Erbil Governorate, Erbil Joint Crisis Coordination Center(EJCC), Rwanga Foundation, assistance from Dohuk Governorate, and a number of charitable individuals, various kinds of assistance were provided to 2905 vulnerable households affected by the flood. The assistance was including 2790 food boxes, 244700 liters of kerosene, 2218 kerosene heaters, 2340 square meter carpets (52 meters to each household), 11,700 pillows, 11,700 mattresses, 12,740 blankets, 500 refrigerators, 500 stoves, 500 washing machines (that was donated by Barz Group of Companies), 400 bottles of gas, and 14,720 hot meals.
