In a press conference attended by the President of Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF), Head of Duhok General Directorate of Health and representative of Medical Aid Initiative Norway (MAIN) Organization, the BCF and MAIN Organization announced the donation of $16,000,000 worth of medicines and medical supplies to the Duhok General Directorate of Health on September 17, 2023.
The BCF President, Musa Ahmed, told the media that the Kurdistan Regional Government and the people of Duhok should be thanked for hosting large numbers of IDPs and refugees.
“Unfortunately, there are still about a million refugees and IDPs in the Kurdistan Region while the international assistance has been reduced, but the Kurdistan Regional Government and the people of the Kurdistan Region remain committed to human rights until they voluntarily return to their places of origin,” he said.
He noted that according to the statistics of the Duhok General Directorate of Health, the number of IDP and refugee patients in all hospitals in Duhok province is much higher than the number of local people.
Dr. Lazgin Jamil, the representative of the MAIN Organization in the Kurdistan Region, said that the organization in coordination with the BCF, has prepared medicines worth $ 18,000,000, for the Kurdistan Region.
Mr. Afrasiab Musa, Director of Duhok General Directorate of Health, thanked MAIN and the BCF for their assistance that has continued in the past few years, especially this year’s assistance, which includes medicine for cancer and chronic diseases.
