Barzani Charity Foundation in coordination with the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government and in collaboration with the American Charity Foundation (LDS), The Stirling Foundation and Dutch Flower Stationary on July 1, 2024 announced two projects to renovate 50 schools in the provinces of the Kurdistan Region and isolated areas and the provision of solar electricity to 10 schools in Erbil province.
In the presence of Mr. Musa Ahmad, President of Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) and Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government, in a press conference held on July 1, 2024 at the Presidency of Barzani Charity Foundation two projects to renovate 50 schools in the provinces of the Kurdistan Region and isolated areas and the provision of solar electricity to 10 schools in Erbil province have been announced in result a memorandum of understanding was signed between the President of Barzani Charity Foundation and the Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Mr. Musa Ahmad, President of Barzani Charity Foundation, in a speech for the press welcomed the participants and stressed that “Barzani Charity Foundation has paid great attention to education since its establishment and there has been no year without an effective project in all sectors. He also expressed his gratitude for the assistance of the American Charity Foundation (LDS) and donors and partners inside and outside the Kurdistan Region. Also, he claimed “We are proud to continue to serve education, which has been one of the main goals of Barzani Charity Foundation and we have always been guided by Mr. Masrour Barzani, Chairman of the Founding Board of Barzani Charity Foundation to pay great attention to that part. And as we are always getting advises from president Barzani that he stresses that Barzani Charity Foundation must always do as much as it can for the important issues especially education, serving the children of martyrs and children in general and refugees. We are proud to have been a strong bridge between international organizations, Kurdish personalities and especially the Ministry of Education. Mr. Minister of Education, you know that our fingerprints have been visible. Today we have gathered here to announce two important projects. The first project is a solar system as a test for these schools that within this project we are trying to help the government, in which we are trying to provide 60 Amperes of electricity and 20 million Dinars has been allocated and 10 schools will benefit from the project. Also, the school renovation project, in which 18 million 480 thousand dinars has been allocated for it this year. The president of Barzani Charity Foundation also mentioned that “The Barzani Charity Foundation has allocated about 8 billion dinars through its partners for the renovation of schools, providing stationaries and other educational needs during the ninth cabinet”. He called on Kurdistan donors to cooperate in this field, because a large number of schools need to be renovated. At the end of his speech, the President of Barzani Charity Foundation thanked the American Charity Foundation (LDS) and announced them as the main collaborators of Barzani Charity Foundation and thanked (The Stirling Foundation) and (Dutch Flower Stationary) for their partnership in these two projects.
And then, Mr. Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government, delivered a speech and expressed his gratitude for the assistance of Barzani Charity Foundation and its partners in the education sector. He added that the Barzani Charity Foundation with the help of its partners has been able to serve the education sector with more than 8 billion dinars.
The minister of education also said: “During the ninth cabinet, we have been able to reduce the number of three-shift schools from 139 to 11 schools thanks to the efforts of the Barzani Charity Foundation and what we have done in the Kurdistan Regional Government was with their help, Today we will sign the memorandum of understanding to repair 50 schools, which certainly includes some of the schools in Kirkuk and Nineveh province and those schools that contain Kurdish education, while providing 60 amps of electricity to 10 schools through solar energy that so far 63 schools are using the solar system energy in Kurdistan region. The Prime Minister has agreed to provide more than 4 billion Iraqi dinars to provide solar electricity to 72 more schools.”
In the final part of his speech, the Minister of Education thanked American LDS, The Stirling Foundation and the Dutch Flower Stationary for their partnership in these two projects.
