It is one of my greatest pleasures to see the humanitarian activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation grow year on year. Today, despite the difficult economic situation in the midst of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Barzani Charity Foundation has been able to continue to provide humanitarian aid, helping those with limited incomes and those most affected by the pandemic and its consequences. Not least, when this foundation rolled up its sleeves and worked hard to help refugees and displaced people who took refuge in the Kurdistan Region as they escaped from the oppression and horror of terrorism, persecution and violence.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the people of Kurdistan who opened their doors with generosity to embrace refugees and displaced people from Iraq, Syria and the wider region. In the long term, our goal must be to create the conditions that will allow IDPs and refugees to return to their homes in safety and with dignity.
The Barzani Charity Foundation has made a major step forwards in its humanitarian journey as it extended a helping hand to the poor and needy people outside the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. The people of Kurdistan do not forget the support of humanitarian organizations and their aid in our darkest days, especially in the beginning of the glorious March 1991, uprising and during the Kurdish exodus. So, it is a source of great pride that a humanitarian organization such as the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) is now embarking on this noble and honorable role in helping the poor and those in need around the world without religious, sectarian, national, or ethnic discrimination.
I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to all parties, contributors, donor countries and humanitarian organizations for their joint coordination and hard work with the Barzani Charity Foundation. It is in great part thanks to that close collaboration that the foundation has been able to increase and deepen its humanitarian giving.
Finally, of course, I must also thank the employees of the Barzani Foundation Charity, whose hard work, day and night, to perform their humanitarian duty with dedication and sincerity enables the foundation to make a difference to so many daily lives. I wish them further success and progress in the months and years to come.
