First Heart Surgery Takes Place at Eye and Heart Hospital in Northeast Syria (Rojava)

A medical team from the Kurdistan Region, arrived in Qamishli, Rojava to provide medical assistance and conduct surgeries on January 17, 2020.

The medical team supported by BCF staff successfully performed four heart transplant surgeries and provided training sessions to the staff and doctors of Qamishli hospital.

The Health Minister in Rojava and the Director of the Heart and Eye Hospital accompanied the team and were pleased with the cooperation of the Kurdistan Region heart transplant team.

The team was made up of five specialist doctors who spent nine days in Rojava. After accomplishing their mission, at a ceremony, the doctors were presented with a recognition letter by the Health Minister in Rojava for all the hard work they did during their visit.
