Some of the Activities and Humanitarian Work of the Barzani Charity Foundation During May 2026

The teams of the Barzani Charity Foundation have been devoted to humanitarian service and work, dedicating themselves day and night for more than twenty years to ensure that services and assistance reach people in need without discrimination. Here, we present some of the activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation during May 2026.
At the beginning of May 2026, on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, the Barzani Charity Foundation carried out a number of different activities.
On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, the Kirkuk Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, on 1/5/2026 in Kirkuk, distributed food baskets and hygiene kits to 100 workers. It also provided food assistance and health kits to 100 municipality workers in the city of Kirkuk.
At the same time, the Zakho Representative Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of a donor, distributed food baskets to 50 workers.
The Barzani Charity Foundation, in cooperation with the American Corner, established a special garden within the gardens of the University of Duhok.
The purpose of establishing this garden was to increase green spaces and provide fresh, locally grown fruit, which is being implemented within the framework of the “Kurdivia for Fruit Drying” project.
Assistance were Provided to the Affected Families of Besri Village
On 4/5/2026, the Foundation’s teams provided various forms of assistance to 11 families in Besri Village, affiliated with Duhok District, who were affected by the natural disaster (flood).
Distribution of Food Assistance in the Penjwen Area
On 4/5/2026, the Sulaymaniyah Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed food baskets to 75 families and the teachers of Gulan Village, affiliated with Nalparez Subdistrict in the Penjwen area.
Provision of Wheelchairs for Persons with Disabilities in Sulaymaniyah
Under the ongoing project for the care of persons with disabilities at the Barzani Charity Foundation, and with the support of the American LDS organization, on 5/5/2026, the Sulaymaniyah Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, in coordination with Roz Society, provided wheelchairs to 11 persons with disabilities.
Distribution of Financial Assistance and Household Items in Zakho
The Zakho Representative Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of the Foundation’s Representative Office in the United States, on 6/5/2026 distributed cash assistance to five families suffering from chronic illnesses. Household items were also provided to two low-income families. A total of seven families benefited from this activity.
Advanced First Aid Training Course Conducted for All Barzani Charity Foundation Employees
The Barzani Charity Foundation annually conducts an advanced first aid training course for its employees. This training is a comprehensive program that covers all Foundation staff. By the end of June this year, more than 700 Foundation employees had received this training. In addition, training courses are also conducted for employees in the Foundation’s offices outside the country. These activities are not new; to date, first aid training has been conducted in 17 refugee and humanitarian development camps, with 1,136 participants.
Children at Smile House in Amedi Paint Their Artwork with the Colors of Spring
Children with disabilities at Smile House in Amedi, with the support of the center’s staff and the Amedi Representative Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, created several paintings using the colors of spring. This activity, which took place on 7/5/2026, is part of the program for developing handicraft skills and emotional expression, through which the children can express and demonstrate their feelings and hopes through art.
Pharmacy College Students in Erbil Voluntarily Assist the Teams of the Barzani Charity Foundation
Pharmacy College students in Erbil voluntarily assisted the teams of the Barzani Charity Foundation during the preparation for the delivery of a large quantity of medicines and medical supplies to healthcare centers. This activity took place on Sunday, 10/5/2026, at the warehouses of the Barzani Charity Foundation in Erbil.
Provision of Wheelchairs for Persons with Disabilities in Kalar
As part of the ongoing project for the care of persons with disabilities at the Barzani Charity Foundation, and with the support of the American LDS organization, on 12/5/2026, the Garmian Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation provided wheelchairs to five persons with disabilities.
A Special Course on Combating Narcotic Drugs Conducted for Officers of the Ministry of Peshmerga
The Barzani Charity Foundation, in coordination with the Ministry of Peshmerga, on 12/5/2026, within the framework of the “National Campaign to Combat Narcotic Drugs” project, conducted a three-day course for officers of the Ministry of Peshmerga.
The purpose of conducting this course was to increase awareness of the dangers and types of narcotic drugs and how to combat them. This campaign has been ongoing for more than one year and has provided specialized seminars at educational institutions for religious teachers, and more recently for officers of the Ministry of Peshmerga.
The Barzani Charity Foundation Provides Medicines and Medical Supplies to Hospitals in Qamishli
On 4/5/2026, the Qamishli Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation provided medicines and medical supplies to Qamishli General Hospital. The assistance included: 10 cartons of medicines, six cartons of medical clothing for medical staff and patients, five cartons of syringes, 100 mattresses, 100 blankets, 100 pillows, food baskets, and rechargeable lights.
On 13/5/2026, with the support of AwaMedica Company, 20 cartons of medicines and medical supplies were provided to the Hleliye Clinic in Qamishli.
More Than Three Tons of Medicines Provided to the Hospitals of Amuda
As part of the ongoing activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation in Western Kurdistan, and in coordination with the Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor), on 25/2/2026, more than three tons of medicines were provided to the National Hospital and the hospitals of Amuda.
Doctoral Dissertation on the Work of the Barzani Charity Foundation Defended at Tikrit University
A delegation from the Barzani Charity Foundation, headed by Ismail Abdulaziz Mustafa, a member of the Foundation’s Executive Board, participated on Sunday, 17/5/2026, in the defense of a doctoral dissertation at Tikrit University, which focused on the work of the Barzani Charity Foundation in the field of sustainable development.
The doctoral dissertation was presented by the student Salahaddin Taha Muhsin. Following a scientific discussion of the dissertation’s content and its main sample, which focused on the work and activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation in the field of sustainable development, the examination committee approved it with the grade of “Excellent.”

Distribution of Food and Financial Assistance in the Camps of Erbil Governorate
The Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of the Baran Group, on 18/5/2026, distributed food baskets to 154 families residing in Bahrka 1 Camp in Erbil Governorate.
At the same time, with the support of Islamic Relief, food assistance (two food baskets and two sacks of flour) was distributed to 147 families in Khazer M1 Camp.
Also, in the same camp and on the same date, with the support of the Baran Group, financial and food assistance (80,000 IQD, one food basket, and flour for each family) was distributed to 146 families.
Kurdistan Autism Society Presents a Certificate of Appreciation to the Barzani Charity Foundation
Hussein Fariq Mazouri, President of the Kurdistan Autism Society, together with an accompanying delegation, visited the Presidency of the Barzani Charity Foundation in Erbil on Monday, 18/5/2026, and presented the Foundation with the Kurdistan Autism Society’s official shield of appreciation and certificate of recognition.
Barzani Charity Foundation Signs a Memorandum of Understanding for the Implementation of the SRM Project in the Camps of Duhok
The Barzani Charity Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with VNG International, the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), and the Directorate of Migration, Displacement and Crisis Response for the implementation of the Service Response Mechanism (SRM) project in four refugee camps in Duhok Governorate. The project aims to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of service delivery, ensuring that the voices of refugees can easily reach decision-making centers.
Distribution of Food Assistance in Hassan Sham Camp
The Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of the Baran Group, on 19/5/2026, distributed food baskets and sacks of flour to 90 families residing in Hassan Sham U2 Camp in Erbil Governorate. Each family received two food baskets and two sacks of flour. At the same time, with the support of Islamic Relief, food assistance (two food baskets and two sacks of flour) was distributed to 91 families. A total of 868 camp residents benefited from these two activities.
Distribution of Wheelchairs to Persons with Disabilities in Duhok
Within the framework of the project for the care of persons with disabilities, the Duhok Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of the American LDS organization, on 19/5/2026, distributed wheelchairs to eight persons with disabilities at the Duhok Center and the Foundation’s office.

We Are Always Committed to Implementing the Largest Number of Humanitarian Projects in Kirkuk.
In the presence of party, government, and administrative officials, a number of media professionals, and representatives of civil society organizations in Kirkuk, the annual meeting of the Kirkuk Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation was held in Kirkuk. During the meeting, the Barzani Charity Foundation presented appreciation awards to a number of the city’s donors and highly valued the role of media channels and institutions in covering its humanitarian activities.
A Training Course Conducted for the Employees of the Duhok Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation
The Human Resources Department of the Duhok Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation conducted a special training course on the topic of “Time Management” for 14 employees of the Duhok Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation from 17/5/2026 to 20/5/2026.
Distribution of Food Baskets in Khanaqin, Rizgari, Darbandikhan, and Kifri
The Garmian Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed food baskets to 300 poor and low-income families in the Khanaqin area. In addition, 210 families in the districts of Rizgari, Darbandikhan, and Kifri benefited from this assistance.
The Barzani Charity Foundation carries out major humanitarian projects during all religious and national holidays and occasions. During this year’s Eid al-Adha, in addition to distributing food baskets, it also distributed 12,000 kilograms of Qurbani meat.
New Clothing Provided for the Children of Debaga Camp
The Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of Al Sharqiya Channel, on 21/5/2026, provided new clothing for the children of Debaga Camp in Erbil Governorate on the occasion of the approaching blessed Eid al-Adha. A total of 410 children benefited from this assistance.
Distribution of Food Assistance in Hassan Sham Camp
The Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of Islamic Relief, on 21/5/2026, distributed food assistance to 731 families residing in Hassan Sham U3 Camp in Erbil Governorate. Each family received two food baskets and 20 kilograms of flour.
UIMS and the Barzani Charity Foundation Discuss a Joint Action Plan
Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Haiti, President of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS), together with an accompanying delegation, visited the Presidency of the Barzani Charity Foundation in Erbil on 21/5/2026, where they were warmly received by Musa Ahmed, President of the Barzani Charity Foundation.
The visiting delegation, while highly appreciating the humanitarian work, activities, and projects of the Barzani Charity Foundation over the past years, expressed their desire for coordination and joint cooperation with the Foundation.

Financial Assistance Provided to Persons with Disabilities in Bahrka Camp
The Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of the Baran Group, on 21/5/2026, distributed financial assistance to 14 families in Bahrka 1 Camp in Erbil Governorate. Each family received 100,000 Iraqi dinars. The assistance was intended for persons with disabilities.

The Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of the non-governmental PEERS Institute, on 21/5/2026, distributed food baskets to 18 families residing in Bahrka 1 Camp in Erbil Governorate.
Assistance Provided to Persons with Disabilities in Bile

Assistance Provided to 200 Low-Income Families in Semel District
On the occasion of the approaching blessed Eid al-Adha, the Duhok Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, on 21/5/2026, distributed food baskets to 200 poor and low-income families in Semel District, Duhok Governorate.
Distribution of the Eighth Installment of Financial and Humanitarian Assistance to (Orphaned) Azizan Children
As part of its ongoing humanitarian projects and support for Azizan children, the Barzani Charity Foundation implemented the eighth phase of its joint assistance project with Poland to support orphaned children (Azizan children). The assistance included:
Distribution of USD 5,900 to the Azizan children.
Provision of food baskets for their families by the Barzani Charity Foundation.
Provision of school bags, school supplies, and study desks for the children, with the aim of encouraging them to continue their education.
Eid Clothing Provided for Children in Nineveh Governorate
The Nineveh Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, in cooperation with Al-Noor University in Nineveh Governorate, on the occasion of the approaching blessed Eid al-Adha, on 23/5/2026, provided Eid clothing for 100 orphaned children and children with disabilities.
Provision of Medicines and Medical Supplies to Healthcare Centers in Qamishli
The Barzani Charity Foundation, in cooperation with AwaMedica Company, implemented a joint humanitarian health project on 23/5/2026.
Ninety-six cartons of medicines and various medical supplies were provided to the Qamishli Health Center.
Forty-two cartons of medicines and medical supplies were provided to the Mislon Medical Center, and 20 cartons of medicines and medical supplies were provided to the Khalij Health Center.
On the following day, 24/5/2026, a total of 76 cartons of medicines and medical supplies were provided to the Tirbespi Medical Center.

250 Food Baskets Distributed to Environmental Workers and Parks Directorate Employees
The Erbil Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, in cooperation with Galyawa Company, distributed food baskets to 250 environmental workers and employees of the Erbil Parks Directorate on 23/5/2026.
Distribution of Flour to Displaced Families in the Camps of Duhok Governorate
In order to provide essential food needs for displaced families and continue its humanitarian convoys, the Barzani Charity Foundation, on 24 and 25 May 2026, distributed sacks of flour to 4,800 displaced families residing in 13 different camps across Duhok Governorate.
On Sunday, 24/5/2026, the Barzani Charity Foundation also distributed food baskets to 200 poor and low-income families in the town of Shaqlawa.
The National Campaign to Combat Narcotic Drugs Continues
As part of the activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation within the National Campaign to Combat Narcotic Drugs project, on Thursday, 21/5/2026, a team from the campaign carried out several public awareness activities for citizens in the town of Shaqlawa.
This national campaign, which was launched to combat narcotic drugs, has been ongoing for one year. During 2025, the Barzani Charity Foundation organized dozens of various activities, including awareness sessions, seminars, and workshops in educational institutions, displacement and refugee camps, and especially for religious teachers.
The primary objective of these efforts is to unite all segments and groups of society in confronting this dangerous phenomenon, which is known as “White Terror.”

On 24/5/2026, the Kirkuk Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed food baskets to 400 municipality workers of the Kirkuk Municipalities Directorate.
Food Baskets Distributed to Organizations for Persons with Disabilities in Duhok
On 24/5/2026, on the occasion of the approaching blessed Eid al-Adha and within the framework of the humanitarian projects of the Barzani Charity Foundation, 750 food baskets were distributed to nine organizations serving persons with disabilities throughout Duhok.
Distribution of Eid Clothing to 100 Orphaned Children and Children with Disabilities in Nineveh Governorate
On 25/5/2026, the Mosul Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, in cooperation with Engineer Ahmed Sheikh Kanaan Kiki, Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Bloc in the Nineveh Provincial Council, provided Eid clothing for 100 orphaned children and children with disabilities in the governorate.

In the Presence of the Governor of Erbil; 30 Wheelchairs Distributed to Persons with Disabilities
As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Barzani Charity Foundation to support different segments of society, a special assistance initiative was carried out at the Zhyan Association on 25/5/2026, during which 30 wheelchairs were provided to persons with disabilities.

Provision of Various Supplies for Aziz Children in Cooperation with Tishk University Students
In cooperation with first-year students of Tishk University, on 25/5/2026, a charitable project was carried out to support 15 Aziz children.
Under this project, a comprehensive assistance package was provided to the children, covering their educational and living needs, including school bags, complete school supplies, study desks, and food baskets. At the same time, on the occasion of the approaching blessed Eid al-Adha, new Eid clothing was provided for all 15 children.

Providing Eid Clothing and Supplies for Orphaned Children in Halabja Province
The Halabja Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation, in cooperation with charitable donors, provided Eid al-Adha clothing and various Eid supplies for orphaned children in the area on 26/5/2026.

The Barzani Charity Foundation, with the support of a donor, distributed Eid al-Adha meat to 55 families residing in Baharka 1 Camp in Erbil Province on 27/5/2026.
The Barzani Charity Foundation Opens a Dental Health Unit in Sinjar
As part of the Barzani Charity Foundation’s ongoing efforts to enhance humanitarian and healthcare services, the Foundation’s Sinjar Office, in cooperation with HELFEN BRINGT FREUDE and Caritas Essen, and in coordination with the Nineveh Provincial Health Directorate, opened a new dental health unit at the Zorava Community Health Center in Sinjar on 27 May 2026.
The services include dental examinations, consultations, and treatment, and are provided free of charge, offering significant assistance to citizens with dental problems who cannot afford private healthcare services.
The Barzani Charity Foundation Distributes 12 Tons of Eid al-Adha Meat
Musa Ahmed: 135,832 People Will Benefit from the Eid al-Adha Projects
In the presence of the President of the Barzani Charity Foundation, the Governor of Erbil, the Director of the Livestock Project, the Director of the Erbil Slaughterhouse, and a number of media representatives, the Barzani Charity Foundation announced its Eid al-Adha meat project on the first day of Eid al-Adha.
In his speech during the ceremony, Musa Ahmed, President of the Barzani Charity Foundation, extended his Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslims in Kurdistan and around the world. He pointed out that, with the support and assistance of donors and investors, the Barzani Charity Foundation implements the Eid al-Adha meat project every year. This year, in addition to distributing 12 tons of Eid al-Adha meat, three other food and non-food assistance projects will also be implemented during Eid al-Adha. He also expressed his special thanks to everyone who participated in and contributed to this project.
In Addition to Eid al-Adha Meat, Food Baskets and Clothing Were Distributed
Due to the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement not providing the necessary assistance in the camps, the Barzani Charity Foundation provided 340 tons of flour (one sack for each family), benefiting 6,800 families. In addition, more than 325 children (especially orphans) received Eid clothing, and 13,270 food baskets were distributed, each containing 11 food items.
A total of 26,570 families (135,832 people) benefited from the Eid al-Adha projects.
Distributing Eid al-Adha Meat in Darbandikhan
The Garmian Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed more than 800 kilograms of Eid al-Adha meat to 400 poor and low-income families in the Sara and Kani Tu neighborhoods of Darbandikhan District on 28/5/2026.
Distributing Eid al-Adha Meat in the Subdistricts of Sirwan and Bamo
The Halabja Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed 638 kilograms of Eid al-Adha meat to 235 poor and low-income families across Halabja Province on 28/5/2026.
Distributing Eid al-Adha Meat in the Mergasor Area
The Barzani Charity Foundation Representative Office in Ble distributed Eid al-Adha meat to 340 families across three subdistricts and nine villages in the Mergasor area on 29/5/2026.
Distribution of 1,500 kg of Qurbani Meat in Pira Magrun
On 29 May 2026, the Sulaymaniyah Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed 750 portions of Qurbani meat in Pira Magrun, Sulaymaniyah Governorate. Each portion contained 2 kilograms of meat, bringing the total amount distributed to 1,500 kilograms.
Barzani Charity Foundation Participates in the Kurdish Festival in the Netherlands
On 31 May 2026, the Barzani Charity Foundation participated in a large Kurdish cultural and artistic festival held in the Netherlands. The event was attended by Ismail Kamil, President of the Kurdistan Diaspora Confederation; Qaraman Othman, Head of the Shifa Barzani Office and General Supervisor of the Kurdistan Diaspora; Awat Mustafa, the Foundation’s Representative in Europe; Shukri Barwari, Deputy President of the Confederation; Sharmin Pourarsalan, Head of the Organization Office; Nader Dokhati, Secretary of the Federation in the Tegelen region; and numerous members of the Kurdish community.
Representing the President of the Barzani Charity Foundation, Awat Mustafa delivered a speech expressing appreciation to the Kurdish diaspora in the Netherlands and across Europe for their continuous humanitarian cooperation and support. The festival organizers also presented the Foundation with an award of appreciation in recognition of its humanitarian work in Kurdistan and around the world.
Participants expressed their admiration for the Foundation’s humanitarian activities and agreed to collaborate on launching a dedicated project to support orphaned children.
Food Basket Distribution in Akre and Bardarash
On 24 May 2026, the Akre Representative Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation carried out a large-scale food assistance campaign across the districts of Akre and Bardarash, distributing 500 food baskets to vulnerable families and orphaned children.

On 26 May 2026, the Halabja Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed 650 food baskets to beneficiaries across Halabja Governorate, including:
292 food baskets in Halabja city.

Qurbani Meat Distributed to Vulnerable Families in Zakho
On 28 May 2026, the Zakho Representative Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed Qurbani meat to 270 low-income and vulnerable families in Zakho.

In cooperation with Shuaa Al-Amal Organization, the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed Qurbani meat to 111 refugee families residing in Khazer M1 Camp on 28 May 2026.

On 28 May 2026, the Akre Representative Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed Qurbani meat to 250 low-income and vulnerable families in Akre.
More Than 600 Families Receive Qurbani Meat in Debaga Camp
In coordination with a humanitarian organization, the Barzani Charity Foundation implemented a joint Qurbani meat distribution project in Erbil Governorate. During the campaign, held on 28 May 2026 in Debaga Camp, 674 resident families received Qurbani meat.
Afrin: Psychosocial Adaptation Training Held in Kafroum Camp
The Afrin Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation organized a long-term training course in Kafroum Camp, Afrin, entitled “Psychosocial Adaptation Skills” under the slogan “Together Towards Health and Well-being.”
The program targeted 20 women affected by conflict, who participated in five weekly training sessions. Evaluations showed improved engagement and participation among attendees, with a positive impact on their psychological well-being.
Afrin: Psychological Support Course for Students
On 24 May 2026, the Barzani Charity Foundation organized a psychological support course at the Barzani Center for Culture and Development entitled “Exam Anxiety and Coping Strategies.”
The course benefited 30 ninth-grade and baccalaureate students, both girls and boys.
Its objective was to help students understand exam anxiety, identify its causes and symptoms, and introduce practical coping strategies, including time management, relaxation techniques, and positive thinking.
More Than 455 People Benefited from BCF Training Courses in May
Despite the reduction in international support for educational, vocational, artistic, and literacy training programs, the Barzani Charity Foundation has continued to provide training opportunities both inside refugee and IDP camps and in surrounding communities. These courses have had a tangible positive impact on the lives of participants.

During May 2026, in addition to providing first aid and emergency response training for more than 700 Foundation staff members across its offices and organizing anti-drug awareness seminars that reached hundreds of participants, the Foundation conducted 49 vocational, educational, artistic, and literacy training courses inside and outside refugee and IDP camps.
These courses benefited more than 455 participants, helping strengthen their skills, knowledge, and opportunities for personal development.
