Some of the Activities and Projects of the Barzani Charity Foundation in July 2026

The Barzani Charity Foundation, as part of its continued humanitarian and development efforts, carried out a number of projects, emergency assistance activities, strategic agreements, and capacity-building courses across all governorates of the Kurdistan Region, the disputed territories, and Western Kurdistan during July 2026. These activities covered various sectors, including healthcare, education and training, assistance to displaced people and refugees, and support for people with special needs and Azizan children.

Healthcare Sector and Medical Campaigns

The healthcare sector represented a major part of the Foundation’s activities, including several strategic steps and field assistance initiatives:
Renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Rare Center for Complex Care: Under the supervision of the Mustafa Barzani Office and in cooperation with Swisscross, the Ministry of Health, and the KHCMS, the project’s memorandum of understanding was renewed. Over the past two years, the project has provided 500 specialized surgeries and examinations free of charge to 1,500 people.
National Anti-Cancer Campaign: On July 27, 2026, a joint campaign was launched at Soran University in the presence of senior officials and sponsored by Empire, under the slogan “Together Towards a Cancer-Free Society.”
“A Smile for Children” Project: On July 29, 2026, a one-year memorandum of understanding was signed with Smile Infinity Center to provide oral and dental healthcare to 60 Azizan children and conduct screening campaigns in remote areas.
Eye and Dental Examinations: On July 28, 2026, in cooperation with the Jordanian Eye Center, examinations were conducted for 100 Azizan children in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja.
Assistance to Hospitals in Western Kurdistan: On July 6, 7, and 15, more than 185 cartons of medicines and medical supplies were provided to hospitals in Hasakah, Zarqan, Tal Tamr, Tal Maarouf, Tishrin, and Al-Razi in Qamishli and Hasakah.
Combating Drugs: The Foundation’s teams conducted an awareness campaign at the METS International Exhibition under the slogan “Together Towards a Healthy and Sound Society.”

Education, Training and Capacity Building

The Barzani Charity Foundation placed particular importance on improving the skills of employees, students, and young people:
Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI): On July 29, 2026, a training course on the use of technology and artificial intelligence in the workplace began for summer trainees in Erbil.
Barzani Philosophy Seminar: On July 28 in Erbil, a seminar on the humanitarian and national principles of Barzani Philosophy was held for 50 volunteers of the “Volunteer Empowerment” project, and on July 30, a similar seminar was held in Halabja for Foundation employees.
Stress Management: On July 26 and 27, a two-day training seminar on stress management was delivered by Dr. Pegah Saeedi for employees of the Garmian Office.
Preparation for the Labor Market: On July 28, a workshop was held in Akre for 28 graduates and employees. In Duhok, a problem-solving course was held for 22 employees, while an AAP course was also conducted at the American University.
Academic and Educational Development: A webinar on climate and weather was held in cooperation with Soran University on July 1, a meeting was held with a delegation from Al-Iraqia University on July 8, and Kurdish language courses were conducted in Afrin, while English courses were held in Halabja, Basirma, and Erbil.

Supporting Azizan Children, Women and People with Special Needs

Azizan Home and Children: An “Attachment” workshop was conducted for 41 employees of Azizan Home. Swimming activities and gifts were provided to 72 Azizan children in Erbil. An artistic event was held for 250 children and their families at Basirma Camp, with the participation of Roni Jan Haso. A recreational trip to Diwan Mall amusement park was also organized for Azizan children in Kalar.

Women’s Empowerment: A clothing sewing course was completed for 14 women at Darashakran Camp, and another course was launched at Basirma Camp.
People with Special Needs: Wheelchairs and assistive devices were provided to eight people in Erbil in cooperation with LDS. The President of the Kurdistan Hemophilia Association was also welcomed, and the Foundation received a recognition award from Duhok Sports Club.

Emergency Assistance and Support for Low-Income Families

Food Distribution: Food baskets were distributed to 50 families in Akre, 214 families in Hasan Sham and Khazer Camps, and 17 families in Bedial village in Barzan. Red meat was also distributed to 129 families in Khazer Camp.
Camps and Affected People: A total of 5,085 tents were distributed in Birsiv, Bajed Kandala, and Khanke camps in coordination with UNHCR. Assistance was also provided to families affected by fires in Hasan Sham U3 Camp and Jindires in Afrin.

Cinematic Production and the Humanitarian Voice

The documentary film “REPATRIATION”, a short film produced by the Barzani Charity Foundation, directed by Star Ahmed and executive-produced by Rawaj Haji, reached the final stage of the International Indie Film Festival in Paris and was selected for the final ceremony in Oslo, aiming to convey the voices of migrants to the world through an artistic medium.
