BCF’s Humanitarian, Educational, and Vocational Activities in Displacement and Refugee Camps
As part of its humanitarian, social, and empowerment programs, the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) carried out a range of activities in displacement and refugee camps across Erbil and Duhok Governorates. These activities ranged from providing food assistance and financial support to organizing vocational, educational, language, technical, and artistic training courses.
From August 23 to 27, 2026, a number of humanitarian, educational, and vocational activities were conducted in several camps across Erbil Governorate, each addressing the diverse needs of displaced children, young people, and families.
A Joyful Activity for Children in Bahrka Camp
On August 24, 2026, in cooperation and coordination with the Hand of Help Organization, a recreational and educational activity was organized for children at Bahrka 1 Camp.
As part of the activity, children were provided with toys and child-friendly materials, while a range of recreational and educational activities were organized to create a joyful and engaging experience for them. A total of 60 children benefited from the activity.
Such activities play an important role in creating an active, positive, and joyful environment for children living in camps.
Learning and Skills Development in Qushtapa Camp
Within the same framework, Qushtapa Camp hosted several educational and skills-development activities.
On August 23, 2026, a Kurdish reading and writing course using the Latin alphabet began at the Othman Sabri Cultural and Social Center for a group of Azizan. A total of 11 participants 6 girls and 5 boys, joined the course, which is being implemented as part of programs aimed at supporting and developing the skills of Azizan.
On the same day, a music training course also began at the center. Participants were divided into two groups: the first for children and the second for adolescents. A total of 15 participants, including 10 girls and 5 boys, took part in the course.
Also on August 23, 2026, a handicrafts training course for girls began at the Othman Sabri Cultural and Social Center, with 21 girls participating.
In addition to providing participants with opportunities to learn and spend their time productively, these courses and programs contribute to developing their skills and strengthening their self-confidence.
Continued Humanitarian Assistance in the Camps
In the area of humanitarian assistance, the Barzani Charity Foundation continues to provide essential support to displaced families.
On August 27, 2026, chicken meat was distributed at Khazer M1 Camp, in coordination with the Barzani Charity Foundation and through a donation from the Mrovdost Organization. A total of 128 families benefited from this assistance.
On the same day, a similar activity was carried out at Hasan Sham U2 Camp, also in coordination with the Barzani Charity Foundation and through a donation from the Mrovdost Organization. Chicken meat was distributed to 81 families.
Serving People: From Basic Needs to Empowerment
The diversity of these activities demonstrates that humanitarian work does not end with meeting basic needs. Psychological and social support, education, skills development, and creating active and engaging environments for children and young people are also essential components of serving communities.
From Bahrka and Qushtapa to Khazer and Hasan Sham, the activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation reflect its ongoing efforts to respond to humanitarian needs in diverse ways and according to the specific needs of each community.
Through its continued humanitarian services and assistance, the Barzani Charity Foundation strives to go beyond simply delivering aid by creating opportunities, empowering individuals, and contributing to improving the lives of displaced and refugee communities, particularly children and young people, who represent the future of society.
