Barzani Charity Foundation announced the Eid al-Adha aid project in the presence of the President of Barzani Charity Foundation, Erbil Governor, Turkish Consul General in Erbil, representatives of the Turkish and Iraqi Red Crescent Societies and a number of donors and media channels. The Foundation called on the UN Secretary-General to warn the Iraqi government that starving people is neither within the framework of human rights principles nor in accordance with any law.
In the presence of Musa Ahmad, President of Barzani Charity Foundation, Omid Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Arman Topcu, Consul General of Turkey in Erbil, a number of donors and representatives of the Turkish and Iraqi Red Crescent Societies and media channels. On Friday 6\6\2025, the Eid al-Adha aid project was announced in a press conference held at the slaughterhouse in Erbil.
Erbil Governor Omid Khoshnaw, after congratulating everyone on Eid al-Adha and thanking the Barzani Charity Foundation and donors for supporting the Eid al-Adha aid project, called on citizens to follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and if they want to do sacrifices they have to do them in slaughterhouses so that people’s health is not endangered. Then, he added that the Barzani Charity Foundation distributed about 17,000 baskets of food to the poor before Eid al-Adha, and stressed that the distribution of the aid comes at a time when “the oppression of Baghdad within the framework of violation of the Iraqi constitution and laws and agreements between the Kurdistan Regional Government and Baghdad continues and since 2013 have always created budget and salary problems for the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Then, Erman Topcu, Consul General of Turkey in Erbil, in his speech, first through the media, congratulated all the people of the Kurdistan Region on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. He said that he visited the slaughterhouse in Erbil last year and confirmed that this slaughterhouse works to international standards and thanked the staff of the slaughterhouse.
The Turkish Consul General in Erbil said that “this year the Turkish Red Crescent Society in coordination with the Iraqi Red Crescent Society will distribute 9,000 kilograms of red meat to 1,000 families in Erbil, 250 families in Duhok and more than 600 families in Mosul,”.
He also thanked the Barzani Charity Foundation for carrying out the Eid al-Adha aid project and said: “Barzani Charity Foundation was the first agency to reach the scene of the earthquake in Turkey. We ask God to expand their humanitarian hands,” in the final part of his speech in Kurdish Language he said: “Happy Eid al-Adha.”
Afterwards, Musa Ahmad, President of Barzani Charity Foundation, delivered a speech and after welcoming the present parties and congratulating the Muslims of Kurdistan and the world, he thanked all the donors who have always supported the projects and activities of the Foundation. Then he said: “We have made a speech of the immortal Barzani the slogan of our work, which said: ‘It is a pride to be a servant of your own nation. This year we are proud to have a number of activities, such as more than 17,000 food packages, cash for 500 families and gifts for children, we continue the process of distributing sacrificial meat, thanks to the media, that they continue sharing the projects and activities of Barzani Charity Foundation to the world.
The president of the Barzani Charity Foundation said that the Barzani Charity Foundation has sent a statement to the UN Secretary-General on the situation created by the Iraqi government in the Kurdistan Region. He stressed on this matter and said: “Starving people brings other problems, and the representative of the Barzani Charity Foundation will talk about it at the Human Rights Conference in Geneva. He also said: “We hope that all humanitarian agencies and humanitarian organizations will help and support the people of the Kurdistan Region, especially when you see that the Kurdistan Region has been one of those places that opened their doors to refugees Unfortunately, instead of rewaring those who helped they are now starving. Therefore, we consider it the duty of all humanitarian organizations, especially those that are members of the UN, to use their position, to the UN Secretary-General, the Iraqi government, that starving people is not within the framework of human rights principles.
