On September 1, 2026, Musa Ahmad, President of the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF), accompanied by a delegation, visited the West Asian and African Studies Institute in China, where they were warmly received by Professor Tang Zhichao (唐志超).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed relations between the Kurdistan Region and China, ways to strengthen and further develop these relations, and opportunities for future cooperation between the Barzani Charity Foundation and the institute.
Professor Tang Zhichao expressed his pleasure at the visit and highly commended the humanitarian work and activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation. He also expressed his interest in conducting joint research and developing collaborative projects with the Foundation in the field of humanitarian affairs in the Kurdistan Region.
For his part, Musa Ahmad congratulated Professor Tang Zhichao on his academic achievements, particularly his books and research papers written in Chinese and English on the Kurdish national issue and the Middle East. During the meeting, it was agreed that one of Professor Tang’s academic works would be translated into Kurdish.
Professor Tang Zhichao (唐志超) is a prominent Chinese scholar specializing in Middle Eastern politics and international relations. His academic research covers politics, regional security, international relations, and the Kurdish issue.
Among his notable works is A Perspective on the Kurdish National Issue in the Middle East, written in Chinese. In 2017, he also contributed to an English-language academic work entitled A New Approach to Contemporary Kurdish Issue From the Chinese Perspective.
The visit represents an important step toward strengthening academic and humanitarian relations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation and joint initiatives between the Kurdistan Region, the Barzani Charity Foundation, and Chinese academic institutions.
