From 9 to 13 January 2026, the Barzani Charity Foundation office in Afrin distributed 9,746 hot meals (rice, meat, garlic rice), along with bread and water, and provided 606 items of non-food assistance to Aleppo refugees residing in Afrin.
To date, 252 individuals have received clothing, 396 patients have been provided with medical treatment, and 480 recreational activities have been organized for children to help ease their psychological distress.
In addition, blankets, mattresses, kitchen sets, and plastic sheets have been distributed. The foundation plans to continue its assistance by distributing 3,000 hot meals and fast-food baskets daily.
Following attacks by Syrian army forces, Kurdish residents from the Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiya neighborhoods in Aleppo fled through several routes toward the Afrin border.
According to the Barzani Charity Foundation’s Office in Afrin, more than 22,000 families, comprising over 110,000 individuals, have sought refuge in the towns and villages along the Afrin border. Serious challenges remain in providing adequate shelter for these displaced families.
