The First International Conference of the Kurdistan–Iraq Association of Pediatric Surgeons was held in Erbil with the participation of a large number of pediatric surgeons, medical specialists, and healthcare experts. During the conference, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the Barzani Charity Foundation in recognition of its humanitarian and healthcare efforts.
As part of its commitment to supporting the healthcare sector, particularly children’s health, the Barzani Charity Foundation participated in the First International Conference of the Kurdistan–Iraq Association of Pediatric Surgeons. Dr. Ibrahim Samin, Deputy President of the Barzani Charity Foundation; Farzin Bagzada, Head of the Foundation’s Media and Communications Department and Legal Unit; Dr. Abbas Azad, Head of the Foundation’s Health Unit; and a number of the Foundation’s physicians attended the conference.
The conference was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government and organized by the Kurdistan Association of Pediatric Surgeons. It took place on September 3 and 4, 2026, at the Divan Hotel in Erbil.
During the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Kurdistan Association of Pediatric Surgeons and the Barzani Charity Foundation to establish cooperation in the field of pediatric surgery. In recognition of the Foundation’s extensive and significant contributions to healthcare and its provision of medical supplies and services both within and outside the Kurdistan Region, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the Barzani Charity Foundation.
More than 200 local, Iraqi, and international specialist physicians participated in the conference. A total of 20 new academic research papers, along with several scientific lectures and clinical presentations, were delivered. The sessions focused primarily on the latest developments in pediatric surgery and the treatment of childhood diseases. One of the conference’s key objectives was to facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge among physicians and researchers and to advance pediatric surgical techniques.
Dr. Abbas Azad, Head of the Barzani Charity Foundation’s Health Unit, said:
“The conference provided an excellent opportunity for dialogue and the exchange of scientific knowledge and experience among physicians and specialists from within and outside the country. It also showcased the latest advances and innovative approaches in pediatric surgery and the treatment of childhood diseases.”
He further emphasized that:
“The Barzani Charity Foundation, the Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the Kurdistan Association of Pediatric Surgeons are building a trusted bridge of cooperation and coordination to better serve children who require surgical care.”
The Barzani Charity Foundation’s stand at the conference also became a hub for interaction and appreciation. Participants warmly visited the Foundation’s stand, expressing their gratitude and appreciation while commending the Foundation’s role and continued efforts in supporting healthcare and serving humanity.
