On March 2, 2022, in the framework of their official visit, a delegation of the Barzani Charity Foundation headed by Mr. Musa Ahmed, President of the BCF, Mr. Ibrahim Samin, Vice President of the Foundation, and Mr. Awat Mustafa, the member of the Foundation’s Administrative Board, met with Goal Bank Organization for Capacity Building, Education, and Vocational Training
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Barzani Charity Foundation expressed his gratitude for their hospitality and thanked the Iraqi ambassador in Portugal, Mr. Saywan Barzani. Mr. Musa shared a summary of the history of the Barzani Charity Foundation, its works, and humanitarian initiatives.
In this meeting, the President of the BCF spoke about the context of the IDPs and refugees in the Kurdistan Region who live in 35 camps, of which the Barzani Charity Foundation runs 31 of these camps. He also shed light on the topic of peaceful coexistence between different religions and nationalities in Kurdistan in addition to his speech on the subject of Environmental protection, education, and training, which has been organized by the Barzani Charity Foundation for several years and is seriously concerned with it.
On the other hand, the head of the Goal Bank Organization welcomed the delegation of the Barzani Charity Foundation and thanked them for their recent work, activities, and projects. He talked about the projects of the aforementioned organization in which it works from several aspects including technical, scientific, educational, and charity work as well as pointed out the importance of the environment at the present time, which the organization is working on, and they can have partnership projects with the Barzani Charity Foundation.
On the same day, the delegation of the Barzani Charity Foundation met with Mr. Nazim Ahmed, the diplomatic representative of the Ismaili’s in Portugal.
In the meeting, the goal of BCF visit to Portugal was shed light upon, as their goal lies in the development of relations between the Barzani Charity Foundation and the charitable organizations belonging to the Ismaili sectarian, in order for them to carry out joint initiatives in the Kurdistan Region in the fields of education and the provision of humanitarian aid to the IDPs and refugees in the KRI.
On the other hand, the delegation of the Barzani Charity Foundation met with Mr. Andy Valenti, the official of the Champelod Center for Research and Treatment of Cancer and Brain Diseases.
In the meeting that took place between the two sides, the delegation of the Barzani Charity Foundation explained its goal of visiting this center in Portugal, which lies in having a strong relationship and continuous coordination in order to improve the health sector in the Kurdistan Region and to help hospitals for cancer diseases, including the Hiwa, Nanakali, and Awat Hospitals, which remains in need of medical supplies and medicine to treat the cancer disease.
