In the presence of Mr. Idris Nechirvan Barzani and under the auspices of Mr. Chiavan Nechirvan Barzani, the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) announced the start of the “Hope Tournament” for football at Barzan Village Stadium in Mergasor on September 22, 2023.
At the opening ceremony, Mr Musa Ahmed, President of the Barzani Charity Foundation, delivered a speech, saying that the tournament is an opportunity for mutual respect, brotherhood and the promotion of sports in the region and the whole Kurdistan. “A healthy mind lies in a healthy body, and a healthy body develops through sports,” he said.
Mr. Chiavan Nechirvan Barzani also delivered a speech and welcomed the attendees. He expressed his gratitude for the support of Barzani Charity Foundation for the youth, highlighting the positive effects of sports.
“With this activity we want to serve youth and sports in this region. We are the strength and hope of Kurdistan’s present and future. Sports teaches us that neither defeat nor victory is the end, but every victory relies on our efforts,” he said.
“I hope we can promote sports, athletes and we all serve our country together,” he said.
The ‘Hope’ tournament was organized by the BCF on the recommendation of Mr Chiavan Nechirvan Barzani, in order to support students and youth in Mergasor district.
