President of the Barzani Charity Foundation Announces Dispatch of Major Humanitarian Convoy to Western Kurdistan
The President of the Barzani Charity Foundation revealed during a media conference that 67 trucks carrying food and non-food humanitarian aid, along with 150 staff members of the Barzani Charity Foundation, are being dispatched to Western Kurdistan.
On Wednesday, 21 January 2026, Musa Ahmad, President of the Barzani Charity Foundation, held a media conference at the Sê Malka border crossing, where he outlined the details of the Foundation’s humanitarian aid operation to Western Kurdistan.
Referring to the dire humanitarian situation in Western Kurdistan, the President stated: “At the directive of President Barzani, we have been instructed to mobilize all our capabilities to support our brothers and sisters in Western Kurdistan.”
He added: “In addition to delivering humanitarian assistance, we aim to build a strong bridge of cooperation between the Kurds of Western Kurdistan and local as well as international institutions and organizations, in order to provide the best possible services to our people there.”
The President of the Barzani Charity Foundation further explained that, in coordination with the administration of Western Kurdistan, the largest humanitarian convoy has been prepared, consisting of 67 trucks carrying 22 different types of essential supplies.
He emphasized that the Foundation’s teams will remain alongside the people of Western Kurdistan and continue providing assistance for as long as the need exists.
He also noted that the Foundation’s teams, composed of 150 staff members from all Foundation offices, will provide medical, logistical, and field services to citizens. He stated: “This is the first humanitarian convoy to reach Western Kurdistan, and aid operations will continue on a wide scale until the situation in the region returns to stability.”
The President reaffirmed that wherever there are displaced persons, the Barzani Charity Foundation will extend its support. He highlighted the Foundation’s extensive experience in the Kurdistan Region, neighboring countries, and internationally in assisting displaced persons and refugees. He also pointed out that, in addition to its operations in Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, and Kirkuk, the Barzani Charity Foundation is actively serving the people of Western Kurdistan, concluding: “Wherever there are displaced people, we will serve them.”
