Barzani Charity Foundation Organizes the 9th Azizan Sports Festival

The ninth “Azizan” Sports Festival, dedicated to Azizan children, was held in Erbil with the participation of a number of Azizan children registered with the offices of the Barzani Charity Foundation.
In the presence of Musa Ahmed, President of the Barzani Charity Foundation; Abdullah Haji Mahmoud, Minister of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs; Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government; Jwan Younis Rozhbayani, Assistant Head of the Erbil Governorate Organizing Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP); Dr. Zana Malla Khalid, Head of KDP Branch 2; Dr. Safin Yasin, President of Erbil Sports Club; Prof. Dr. Ahmad Kocher, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University; and a number of government and civil society figures, veteran athletes, media professionals, and representatives of media organizations, the “9th Azizan Sports Festival” was held with the participation of Azizan children at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Sports Hall of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University-Erbil.
At the beginning of the festival, the President of the Barzani Charity Foundation delivered a speech in which he highlighted the various services provided to Azizan children through the Azizan Home Project. He stated that, with the support of local and international donors, the Foundation has provided significant services to Azizan children in the fields of sports and social activities. Regarding the sports activities, he noted that their main objective is to encourage children to participate in sports activities, develop their abilities, promote social integration, value coexistence, and create a pleasant atmosphere filled with friendly competition. He also thanked the donors of Kurdistan, who have always stood behind the Foundation’s humanitarian projects and assistance as a strong pillar of support.
A total of 80 children, both boys and girls, participated in the festival. They were registered with the offices of the Barzani Charity Foundation across Kurdistan and came from different areas of Kurdistan, including Erbil, Kirkuk, Halabja, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, Garmian, Sinjar, and Mosul.
The competitions were held for both boys and girls, and the children competed in track and field events.

One of the most notable parts of the festival was a gymnastics performance presented by the girls’ team of Brain Boost.
The performance was supervised by Coach Fenk, and the girls demonstrated their abilities and skills beautifully. The audience and festival attendees warmly welcomed their performance.

The festival was also held with the support of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University, which played a significant role in providing the venue and various forms of assistance.
Organizing such sports and social activities for Azizan children is an important step toward strengthening their social participation and creating equal opportunities for them to demonstrate their abilities in different fields.
The ninth “Azizan” Sports Festival, through its competitions, performances, and various sports activities, created a pleasant atmosphere filled with positive energy for the participating children. It also became an occasion to bring Azizan children together from different areas under the values of sports, friendship, and togetherness.
