The service facilities project was launched in 2017 by the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) with the construction of four tool service centers in the camps of Basrma, Darashakran, Keurgosk and Qushtapa. However, in September 2019, Barzani Charity Foundation took over the management of this project. Since then, Peace Wind Organization has been funding this project as part of the projects funded by PRM. This project consists of two centers for each camp which are tool services and a Workshop, currently this project has expanded and for the year (2024) in seven camps will provide services to refugees in each of the following camps: (Basrma, Qushtapa, Darashakran, Keurgosk, Dumiz-1, Dumiz-2, Gawilan). These centers provide construction, electrical, carpentry, water and sewerage equipment, as well as agricultural equipment, which meet the needs of the people in the camp. These workshops are also suitable for centers for construction, repairing, welding, carpentry, and blacksmithing, so that the refugees can work on their projects. They also conduct several monthly courses to help refugees benefit and learn how to use the tools and find self-employment to earn a living. The project aims to develop the water and sewerage sectors and shelters, assistance and support, as well as providing free service facilities to reduce the costs of refugees’ needs, teaching refugees to use the facilities safely and scientifically is also another priority for the foundation.
