Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu received the President of the Barzani Charity Foundation in his office in Turkey on March 22, 2023, and thanked the foundation for their quick response to the earthquake disaster.
“Received Musa Ahmed, Head of Barzani Charity Foundation that helped Türkiye after earthquake. We are thankful for their support and solidarity,” said the Turkish Foreign Minister in a tweet.
Regarding the meeting, the BCF president said “It was an important meeting. In addition to our daily work in Turkey and Syria, we want to obtain official permission to stay and open offices in the country to continue our services in several sectors,” noting that the concerned parties had a positive view about the request.
He also stated that he spoke to the Turkish Foreign Minister on the phone last month and he thanked the Barzani Charity Foundation which were the first humanitarian organization to reach the earthquake-affected areas and he also thanked President Barzani and the KRG Prime Minister.
“If it were not for their support and facilities, we would not have been able to reach Afrin, so we thank them for their assistance,” said the BCF president, thanking the Turkish Foreign Minister.
During his visit to Turkey, the BCF President and his accompanying delegation also met with governmental and non-governmental officials.
In Istanbul, they met with iHH President and Founder Bulent Yıldırım. In the meeting, they discussed joint projects and further coordination to help the victims of the earthquake. For his part, the President of the Humanitarian Relief Agency (iHH) thanked the emergency teams of Barzani Charity Foundation for their quick response for the victims of the earthquakes.
The BCF delegation also visited the Turkish Red Crescent Society and met with Ibrahim Altan, Director General of the organization in Ankara. They thanked the BCF for its assistance to the earthquake-hit areas and discussed the future plan of humanitarian assistance and joint work to assist the victims during the month of Ramadan.
