Karzan Nuri in an interview with Kurdistan 24: The project to provide electricity through solar energy for schools has been expanded and includes 25 more schools

Karzan Nuri, a member of the Executive Board of the Barzani Charity Foundation, in an interview with Kurdistan 24 talks about the projects of the Barzani Charity Foundation in the education sector and stresses that the new world system is moving towards clean energy. He said the Iraqi government has been negligent in building and renovating educational centers in the Kurdistan Region.
Karzan Nuri, a member of the Executive Board of Barzani Charity Foundation, in an interview with Kurdistan 24 on 28/7/2025 and after the announcement of the project to provide electricity (through solar energy) for schools in Duhok province, regarding the same project and in response to the question of the presenter of the program, he pointed out that the Barzani Charity Foundation has always tried to play an effective role in the education sector, to lighten the burden of the Ministry of Education. And the organization always have short-term and long-term plans in these areas.
Regarding the project to provide electricity to schools (through solar energy) that Barzani Charity Foundation is implementing in coordination with the US agencies (LDS) and (The Stirling Foundation), he said: “This project has two dimensions. One dimension is educational and the other is environmental and related to clean energy. The new global system is moving towards clean energy and nature.”
Karzan Nuri stressed that the climate of the Kurdistan Region is very suitable for providing electricity (through solar energy), so the Barzani Charity Foundation with international organizations have worked very seriously and will continue in the future. He added that last year, “Barzani Charity Foundation, last year (2024) in the first initiative, 10 schools in the Kurdistan Region, benefited from the provision of electricity through solar energy. This year (2025) the project has been expanded to include 25 more schools. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Education, 120 schools have been provided with solar electricity. And he mentioned that: “The Iraqi government has been neglectful in building and renovating educational centers in the Kurdistan Region. However, the Barzani Charity Foundation has been able to repair 203 schools in 2023 alone. In 2024, and they have renovated 50 more schools in the Kurdistan Region in 2024.” “We have built two schools in Sytkan, one in Halabja and another in Kaunagund in Mergasur region,” he said. He stressed that the Barzani Charity Foundation in 2023 at the request of the Minister of Education and after full coordination with the Ministry of Education implemented the project to increase classes for schools, which has played a major role in eliminating three shifts in schools.
