Awat Mustafa, Member of the Executive Board of Barzani Charity Foundation and Representative of the Foundation in Europe, participated in the 18th Meeting of Ethnic Minorities at the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday November 26, 2025.
The meeting of ethnic minorities is held annually at the Human Rights Council.
The first statement read out at the meeting was the statement of the Barzani Charity Foundation, which supported human rights in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, stressed that the Kurdistan Region has set a good model in protecting ethnic minorities. Not only are they protected, but all their economic, political and religious rights are guaranteed.
The statement called on the international community and the United Nations to consider the successful model of coexistence in the Kurdistan Region.
They also called for the perpetrators of the genocide in Iraq, especially against the genocide of the Yezidis, to be brought to justice and compensate the people who suffered from these crimes.
In the statement from Barzani Charity Foundation the main stress was on the topic that “We believe in protecting the rights of all peoples and the authorities and statesmen should respect all ethnic minorities, including all religions,”.
