An educational project aimed at supporting illiterate refugee children is currently being implemented in Zakho.

The Barzani Charity Foundation Representation in Zakho, in coordination with the Azar Foundation for Children of the World, is supporting this education initiative. Over a five-month period, 50 children will receive comprehensive educational assistance, including school supplies, clothing, school bags, stationery, and other essential learning materials. Throughout the project, the children will also be taught basic reading and writing skills.
Education remains a key priority for both the Barzani Charity Foundation and the Azar Foundation. Due to displacement and the economic hardship faced by their families, these children have been deprived of the opportunity to attend school. This project seeks to address that gap by enabling them to achieve literacy within the project period.
The Barzani Charity Foundation places strong emphasis on education and development. Its efforts include providing educational supplies, conducting educational awareness programs, constructing and rehabilitating schools and training centers, supporting formal education, promoting educational guidelines, and encouraging students to continue their studies. The Foundation also distributes educational supplies annually to students in need.
In addition, the Foundation supports a wide range of educational activities such as building schools, distributing school bags and stationery, launching language-strengthening and illiteracy eradication courses, and delivering educational awareness programs, including health and disease-prevention initiatives.
Through the support of donors, donor countries, and international organizations, the Barzani Charity Foundation has played a vital role in creating a supportive environment for education. It continues to actively support the education sector, particularly in the Kurdistan Region and in refugee camps.
